The only payments you make for GW is when you buy the actual game, and if you download the client off of the website, then you have to buy an account.

There is NO monthly subscription cost.
There are NO upgrades to buy. There are three stand-alone campaigns and one expansion you can purchase. After that you never need to spend another penny.

Buy the game, install the game, add access key and play to your heart's content for as long as you like without ever having to fork over another dime. But to play the other "chapters" you'll have to buy them.
P.S. It's not a good idea to start GW with factions. I'd suggest getting the Platinum edition which contains both the Original GW and the expansion Eye of the North |

as it says on the GW package
online gaming without fee's and i quote from the GW site itself: No monthly fees—ever! so actually you'll maybe spend 20 euros to buy the game, then you install it, enter your access code and start playing without having to pay extra for anything you only pay if you buy the other games of Guild wars and that's it |

I agree with Kook. If your going to buy one of the games buy ether the Guild Wars Platinum Edition (Includes the original Guild Wars and the expansion Eye of the North) or Guild Wars Nightfall.

no monthly fees
theres just the original purchase price (and that can be rather cheap these days) I'm guessing by your posts that your the sort of guy who player the "totally free" onlines game (even if there is no such thing) Runescape comes to mind Bear in mind GW is a top quality game, rivaling the market for the top spot in its genre - Top quality graphics, deep game play, EXTENSIVE character customization and a great (ish) community to boot (Ok im done with the hype) But seriously, GW Rivals WoW on many levels and beats it on just as many - and no monthly fees! (and ???20 isnt really that much...considering youd pay more for a name game anyway) |

its jsut like buyign BF2 only pay for the game and nothign more after that if you don't want to, you can buy the other Gw games and expansions if you want but they are not required to play if you already have a game.
